Why Buying Made in USA is So Important in the Manufacturing Industry
America has a long history of being innovators. This country was built on the adventurous and entrepreneurial spirits of people like Henry Ford, Levi Strauss, Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Andrew Carnegie and countless others. The phrase “Made in America” is not just words on a product, but an employer, an economic cornerstone, and a prideful declaration. So why is Made in USA so important to the business-to-business manufacturing industry?
Re-shoring manufacturing to the US is a hot topic right now for companies across the country. Not only is it becoming more expensive to manufacture in other countries, but it is becoming more convenient to do it here. For manufacturing companies, especially those in business to business, opportunities are opening up faster than ever to partner with companies both inside and outside the US in mutually beneficial relationships.
As a business-to-business manufacturing company ourselves, we have found opportunities both here and across the border in Mexico to sell our Made in USA blades to a growing manufacturing sector in places like Nogales and Hermosillo. We’ve found that US companies can benefit from the extra sales in countries with growing manufacturing industries and they benefit from having a high quality Made in USA product from a small business that saves them money compared with purchasing from an OEM.
By increasing exports, the US builds a foundation from which to grow our own ability to create jobs and more cost efficiently produce Made in USA goods. By taking advantage of the opportunities presented in other countries to sell our products in countries where manufacturing industries are growing, we can then grow our own manufacturing industry in the US which creates jobs right here in America.
Most people don’t make the connection between buying made in USA and re-shoring, especially when it comes to business-to-business. In reality it’s as simple as creating jobs. When one company buys Made in USA, they are bringing jobs back to the US. Since most companies buy parts and materials from many different companies, the multiplier effect is astounding.
